Control of Alternaria porri Causing Purple Blotch of Onion during Kharif Season

Abstract


Purple blotch (Alternaria porri (Ellis)) cif of onion is an important disease causing heavy losses in the yield. The experiment was conducted for three years under field conditions on the management of purple blotch in onion. Among the different fungicidal treatment four sprays of Azoxystrobin 25 SC @ 0.1 percent at 10 days interval with onset of disease gave effective control of purple blotch of onion and better yield. This was followed by four sprays of Tebuconazole 25 EC @ 0.1 percent at 10 days interval with onset of disease and was also equally effective in the management of purple blotch disease of onion. It is suggested to use sticker 0.1% along with fungicide for better efficacy.
